Tighter Standards for AP Courses
The College Board, which administers the AP tests,
has created an "AP Course Audit" to ensure that high
schools meet a minimum course standard in all AP
classes. While the AP tests themselves have long
been standardized, this newest innovation should
ensure that high schools no longer offer AP courses
that purport to prepare students for the AP tests but
in reality are "Advanced Placement" in name only.
I took an AP Physics class in high school where we
learned little of what was actually tested on the AP
exam. Several students walked out of the exam in
frustration. Did anyone else have a similar
experience?
