Q. Should Study Abroad Programs be a Factor in My Admissions Decision?
A.Study abroad programs give college students an opportunity to go to school and travel in another country, usually during one or both semesters of their junior year.
Should you choose a college based on its study abroad opportunities? Probably not. However, it makes sense to learn what you can about a college's study abroad policies during the application process. In some cases, a school might have a special program that appeals to you (Williams College, for example, has its own campus at Oxford University where about 25 Williams students go each year). At other schools study abroad might be just an afterthought, or even actively discouraged, resulting in an awkward situation for the few students who pursue it.
