Q. Priority Waitlist - What is a Priority Waitlist?

A. In many cases colleges don't tell students where they rank on a waitlist, even if the college itself already has an idea about who will come first off the list. However, in other cases the colleges will--for planning purposes--let students know where they stack up generally in the waitlist order.

If you are placed on a priority waitlist or told that you're near the top of a waitlist, that's a good sign. It means that while you still may not be admitted, the college had designated you for a reasonably likely spot if enough people choose not to enroll during the regular process.
