Q. Which Colleges Provide the Best Preparation for Law School?

A. While college applicants sometimes look for pre-law programs when choosing a college, the truth is that law schools do not prefer students who are involved in these pre-law programs. Law schools look for the following factors, among others, in their applicants:

  • College grades and a rigorous college course load
  • LSAT scores
  • Activities and community involvement
  • Recommendations

Law schools don't particularly care about "pre-law" activities and your specific major, as long as you're learning the types of skills useful to future attorneys.

Your best bet, if you want to someday head to law school, is to go to the strongest college you can and take a rigorous workload that helps you learn to write and think critically.
