Improving Grades - The Power of Improving Grades in High School
Improving Grades Late in High School Can Make Up for Poor Ones Earlier
Each college has a different policy, but every admissions officer agrees that he or she would rather see grades improving from freshman year to senior year than the other way around.
By improving your grades, you show colleges that while you may have been a slow starter, you now understand what it takes to succeed in school (and, presumably, at the college level). Improving grades are evidence of a maturing young person and someone who has begun to take academic responsibilities more seriously.
While you'll never be able to completely ignore those freshman and sophomore year grades, you need to be aware that your record later in high school is much more important. Finish high school with a strong improvement in grades, and you'll likely be considered more for the person you are now than the person you were three years ago.
