The National Association of College Admissions Counselors has commissioned a report on standardized tests (primarily the SAT and ACT) that is mind-boggling in its thoroughness. While I wouldn't recommend the 44-page document for a busy high school student, anyone interested in the SAT as an institution - including its usefulness, fairness, history, future, etc. - might want to take a look.
